Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — Traffic was backed up for kilometers along a section of Othón P. Blanco due to an accident. A dump truck and double long semi carrying fuel collided near the town of Sergio Butrón Casas.
Municipal emergency services were notified of the noon accident by motorists Friday. The double long tanker was loaded with fuel when it was run off the road and left partially overturned in the highway ditch.
Authorities quickly shut the highway due to the potential hazard of the fuel truck. A long line of vehicles, mostly industrial trucks with no alternative route, quickly formed a kilometers-long line of standstill traffic.
A cause for the two vehicle collision was not provided by authorities who worked for several hours to clear the area and restore highway traffic flow.
