Main suspect sentenced to 35 years in 2023 murder of Tulum man

Tulum, Q.R. — The main suspect in the 2023 murder of a Tulum man whose body was found on a dirt road has been convicted. On Tuesday, local authorities reported on the sentencing of Dani Alexander Ventura Ramírez.

Police say Ramirez was convicted of aggravated homicide in the death of a Tulum man from January of 2023. The body of the victim, who has not been identified, was found on a dirt road off the Tulum-Felipe Carrillo Puerto highway.

Ramirez was found guilty of “taking the life” of the man and sentenced to over 35 years in prison. In their statement, police did not say how Ramirez killed his victim, nor did they provide a motive.

“Dani Alexander Ventura Ramírez was convicted of aggravated homicide against a victim whose identity is being withheld,” police reported Tuesday.

“The events occurred on January 28, 2023, on a dirt road off the Tulum-Felipe Carrillo Puerto federal highway near the “Xpambi-Ha” cenote when the now-convicted man took the life of a person.

“Dani Alexander Ventura Ramírez, who was a member of a criminal group that generated violence in Tulum, was sentenced to 35 years and six months in prison, and the jurisdictional authority also imposed the payment of 233,425 pesos as a fine,” police said.
