Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A decaying body was found in a vacant lot in Playa del Carmen Monday. The man who found the body went onto the unused lot to relieve himself when he saw human remains.
According to the police report, the man entered the vacant lot on 38th Street and Playa del Carmen Boulevard to relieve himself. “As soon as he entered the property he came across the body.”
The man reported a strong smell coming a few steps from where he was. When he looked, he found the decaying body.
Officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security responding to the 9-1-1 report arrived in the Pedregal neighborhood to verify the finding. The body of an adult male that had been decomposing for several days was confirmed.
Authorities have not commented on the finding. An identification and a possible cause of death are unknown.
