Tulum, Q.R. — Police have confirmed that a taxi seen abandoned along the side of the Tulum-Cobá highway contained that of a deceased male.
A taxi driver from Lázaro Cárdenas was found dead in his unit Friday morning. The vehicle was reported by a citizen at 6:30 a.m. who said he had noticed the vehicle in the same spot around 2:00 a.m. Upon passing the car for a second time, he approached and found the driver was deceased.
Police officers were alerted and arrived to verify the report. Inside the unit was a male who had been shot twice. The deceased has been identified as José L.S. who, according to his family, had provided a taxi service Thursday night from Chiquilá to Tulum.
He was reported missing the next morning, which is when the family was notified of this death.
