Tulum, Q.R. — The Tulum fire department was at the scene of a late night restaurant fire at kilometer 8 of the Tulum-Boca Paila highway Monday. Firemen arrived in response to the report of palapa fire on the Bagatelle restaurant.

Their quick response allowed for the extinguishing of the rooftop blaze before it spread to the rest of the building. The fire reportedly started in the employee area of the restaurant.
While the fire did not consume the restaurant, there was considerable damage to the building that affected the staff area and some adjacent facilities. Civil Protection were at the scene Tuesday working with firemen to locate the exact cause of the late night fire.

There were no injuries reported. An official cause for the fire is still under investigation.
