Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — A man was killed Thursday afternoon when a jack used to support an industrial truck gave way. The unidentified mechanic was making repairs on a tire when the accident happened.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the fatal accident in the community of Carlos A. Madrazo where they found the man had been crushed.
According to initial reports, the hydraulic jack supporting the truck bed failed causing it to collapse on the mechanic. Other people in the workshop who saw what happened called 9-1-1. Paramedics based in Xul-Ha arrived only to confirm his death.
Forensics personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office took charge of carrying out the proceedings and removing the body.
