Homicide detectives arrest three in triple Playa del Carmen murder

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — After several months of investigations, homicide detectives have made two more arrests in a triple Playa del Carmen murder. While information of the July 2021 deaths were not detailed, the FGE did say that two more people believed responsible have been arrested.

A total of three men were believed involved in the 2021 killings of three Playa del Carmen people, one of which, was arrested on separate charges March 1. It was on March 4 when the FGE announced the detainment of Wilber U, who was part of a group of drug related arrests in Playa del Carmen.

When running his identification through Mexico’s database, police learned he fit the description of several extortion reports. Additional investigations lead police to arrest him for involvement in the January 25, 2022 murder of a Mamitas Beach Club manager.

Since his arrest, two others the FGE have identified as Chaarli V and Miguel J, were detained after police were granted arrests warrants. The FGE have only said that “intelligence work and technological monitoring were carried out with the support of the C5 cameras,” which lead police to locate both men in the streets of the Villamar neighborhood of Playa del Carmen.

The two latest detainees, Chaarli V and Miguel J, will face charges along with previously detained Wilbur U, for the murder of three people the FGE has not identified, which they say, took place in July of 2021 in Playa del Carmen.
