Tulum, Q.R. — A head-on highway crash outside Tulum sent four to hospital Sunday. The accident happened at kilometer 3.5 of the Tulum-Cobá highway between a new hatchback and an old model pickup.
According to preliminary information, one of the vehicles was attempting to pass another. While in the oncoming lane, traffic from the opposite direction emerged, causing the two vehicles to crash head on.
The hatchback and its three occupants were thrown into the highway vegetation where emergency personnel found them. The pickup and its occupants were found still on the shoulder of the highway.
The three people from the hatchback and one minor from the pickup were transferred to hospital. Both vehicles were a write-off.
