Tulum, Q.R. — Half a hectare of jungle was consumed by flames in the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. Nearby residents from the community of Javier Rojo Gómez reported the early Wednesday morning blaze.
According to the information provided by emergency responders, the fire was located in the coastal area on a property known as Cocalito, at kilometer 32 of the Tulum-Punta Allen highway.
Elements of the Tulum Fire Department were called in to extinguish flames. A cause for the fire has not yet been determined.
