Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Grupo Xcaret and Scania México have announced a collaboration agreement for the use of electric buses for the company. The Scania Volt e-Urviabus is the first fully electric powered bus assembled in Mexico.
The electric bus will become EcoBus Xcaret. According to a statement published by the companies, the bus will be powered by electricity using a charger and ABB electric mobility solutions.
Jorge Navarro, Commercial and Services Director for the Scania Mexico Bus segment, emphasized that this is a completely zero-emission, safe and inclusive bus.
By the same means, they detailed that the body of the Scania Volt e-Urviabus has been developed in Mexico by Carrocerías Hermanos Becerra, (Beccar) and provides greater safety and speed for the ascent and movement of passengers inside.
Integration with the electric powertrain, on the other hand, allows all vehicle systems and accessories to communicate in harmony. The bus also has the most advanced safety technology and has required the use of new equipment and materials developed especially for electric vehicles.
“Today we take a big step in our commitment to reduce emissions by presenting, together with Scania, the first 100% electric bus assembled in Mexico, a milestone that undoubtedly fills Grupo Xcaret with pride, since it not only allows us to advance in electromobility issues, but at the same time, it boosts the Mexican economy and supports innovations and technological developments made in our country,” said Elizabeth Lugo, Executive Director of Parks and Tours Operations of Grupo Xcaret.
The electric buses will be used within the operation of Destination Xcaret.
