Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — Civil Protection are investigating the cause of warehouse fire that happened Friday morning. The fire started in the adjacent loading yard and consumed a building belonging to Cervecería Modelo.
The building blaze was reported in an industrial area outside the town of Huay Pich.
Firemen were on scene Friday where they found the inside of the building completely engulfed. In a statement, the company said the fire started around 10:00 a.m. in a loading yard adjacent to their warehouse.
The company stated in a press release that they are collaborating with authorities from the Federal District government to identify the cause of the fire.
In their statement, Grupo Modelo said the fire was reported around 10:00 a.m. in the loading yard near a company warehouse. Firefighters, Civil Protection personnel, and preventive police officers from the Public Security Secretariat evacuated brewery workers.
According to Grupo Modelo, the incident was immediately reported to the relevant authorities, who responded promptly and effectively. The situation was brought under control an hour later, and no injuries were reported.
The fire is believed to be the result of an electrical fault.
