Cancun, Q.R. — Seven Cuban nationals who landed along the shore of a Cancun beach have been taken into custody. Authorities reported the incident Thursday after the group of men were captured on surveillance cameras making landfall then immediately fleeing.
The group were seen arriving in a small boat at Playa Marlin in the Cancun Hotel Zone. As soon as they made landfall, the group immediately abandoned the vessel and headed toward a beach access point next to the Plaza Kukulcán shopping center.
From there, they attempted to blend in by walking the streets, however, city surveillance cameras captured their every move as they walked down Kukulcán Boulevard.
Municipal Police agents were sent to the area, and in a short amount of time, located and captured the group of seven men. They have since been transferred to the National Institute of Migration (INM) for processing and deportation back to Cuba.
