Four captured in assault and attempted robbery of Tulum Jaguar Park hotel

Tulum, Q.R. — Tulum authorities arrested four people early Wednesday who are accused of trying to rob a hotel. The three men and one woman were taken into custody after a security guard they assaulted fled and called police.

The assault and attempted robbery took place this morning at a hotel inside the Jaguar Park January 28, 2026.

The incident happened at a hotel inside the Jaguar Park Wednesday morning. According to police, the group of four entered the hotel and demanded keys from a security guard.

When he refused, he was physically beaten. He was able to escape his attackers and call police. Local media have said the attempted robbery happened at Hotel Diamante K in the Jaguar Park.

Authorities arrived quickly and, after reviewing hotel surveillance cameras, were able to identify those responsible. The State Attorney General (FGE) reported on the capture of the group of four Wednesday afternoon.

“The State Attorney General’s Office reports the arrest of four people, three men and one woman, for their probable participation in acts possibly constituting the crime of attempted robbery, as well as aggravated injuries to a worker whose identity is being withheld,” they said in a statement.
