Tulum, Q.R. — A former director of the Tulum City Council has been arrested for domestic violence. On Wednesday, police took Lorenzo Bernabé “N” into custody on allegations of assaulting his girlfriend.

“The Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office (FGE Quintana Roo) arrested a man for domestic violence in Tulum. The detainee is identified as Lorenzo Bernabé “N”, who allegedly abused his partner,” the Fiscalía General del Estado de Quintana Roo reported.
Lorenzo “N” is the former Tulum City Council Director of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development. He was removed from his position in February of 2026 by Mayor Diego Castañón on accusations that he lead a network that extorted and dispossessed business owners in the real estate sector.
He has also been accused of issuing building permits without environmental studies or Civil Protection reports.
He was arrested Wednesday by members of the FGE after his partner provided key documented evidence that led to a judge issuing an arrest warrant against him.
Lorenzo Bernabé “N” has been transferred to a state prison.
