Former Cozumel municipal police director moved to Tulum to reinforce security

Cozumel, Q.R. — Guido Renán Rosas López, the former Director of the Municipal Police of Cozumel, has been transferred to Tulum where he will work to reinforce operations and security strategies.

His move was made after the recent central Tulum shooting between rival criminal groups that killed two tourists. Rosas López will take up position in Tulum to support the command of the Municipal Police.

On December 14, 2018, Guido Rosas was appointed director of the Municipal Police of Cozumel. On September 30, 2021, he was appointed a State Police position.

Officials have not said if his move will be permanent. It comes days after the Head of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) in Quintana Roo, Lucio Hernandez, announced an increased level of security for the city.
