Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The main suspect in the attempted murder of a Playa del Carmen woman has been officially charged. Ariel Hazel “N”, a former boyfriend, has been accused of the crime of attempted femicide.

Police reported in a statement that Ariel Hazel “N” is likely related to events that occurred on March 29 of this year when he entered the home of his ex-girlfriend.
At her home in the Cerrada Pez Payaso neighborhood, police say he physically assaulted her and caused her various injuries with a sharp weapon.
“During the attack, the accused attempted to cut off one of her fingers and strangle her with his elbow. The victim managed to break free and flee into the street, however, the assailant caught up with her, punched her in the face, and stabbed her again.
“As a result of the attack, the victim lost consciousness after which Ariel Hazel “N” left the scene, assuming she was no longer alive.”
Members of the Investigative Police carried out the arrest warrant against Ariel Hazel “N” after the victim filed a complaint.
In court, the judge imposed the precautionary measure of preventive detention for Ariel Hazel “N” for the duration of his legal process.
