Formal charges laid in double murder of Playa del Carmen couple

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Formal charges have been laid against a female for her participation in the aggravated homicide of a man and woman. Police said Saturday that Elvia Marisol “N” has been charged in the shooting deaths.

“Investigations establish that she had knowledge of the murder of the victims who were killed by gunshot in the La Guadalupana subdivision on March 12 of this year,” police said.

Investigative Police officers arrested her at which time they found a 9mm firearm which has since been positively matched to the March 12, 2026 shootings.

Police say the pair were gunned down in the city’s northwest in March on Chichén Itzá Street.

The weapon found on Elvia Marisol “N” was tested by the IBIS system in relation to the shooting and found to be a match. During her arrest, police reported finding narcotics.

She was initially charged with “drug trafficking offenses” and has now been charged with aggravated homicide. She has been ordered to remain jailed during her trial.
