Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A multi-vehicle crash on Playa del Carmen’s main boulevard left nine injured Tuesday. Police and medical personnel were sent to the scene near Xcalacoco Avenue around 1:30 p.m. where a bus and van collided.
According to reports, the driver of the bus rear ended a tourist van that was pushed into another vehicle.
That vehicle, a company van, then hit a private car. All five vehicles involved were heading north at the time of the accident.
Passing motorists reported the incident to emergency services. Civil Protection medical personnel arrived to treat the injured, several of whom were from inside the tourist van.
Municipal Police also arrived to control traffic around the accident site. Vehicles heading toward Cancun were slowed due to the highway chaos. The driver of the bus was taken into custody from the scene for questioning.
