Fire department substations a possibility around Tulum

Tulum, Q.R. — The Tulum fire department is working on a project that could see the creation of small substations around the municipality. Tulum Fire Director Juan Manuel Castilla Jiménez, said they are working on a project of installing substations in the towns of Akumal, Cobá and the beach area.

He said the concept of substations would allow the fire department greater coverage and a reduction of response times in the event of an emergency.

Castillo Jiménez commented that the interest of the current administration, in addition to strengthening the fire station with a greater number of equipment and personnel, is to create substations in the surrounding municipal areas to keep pace with municipal growth.
