FGE removes 10 sex workers from Playa del Carmen highway bar

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The State Attorney General (FGE) reports rescuing 10 women from a Playa del Carmen bar. During a weekend search operation, eight Mexicans, one Cuban and one Argentinian women were escorted from the premises.

According to the FGE, “they are presumed victims of acts possibly constituting the crime of human trafficking in its form of prostitution of others.”

The search operation happened at a bar located on the federal highway between Avenida Juárez and Calle 1 Sur. The 10 women were dedicated to soliciting clients in addition to providing sexual services.

According to initial investigations, customers paid 350 pesos for a beer, which included women sitting with them and allowing them to be sexually touched.

In addition, they charged 3,000 pesos for 30 minutes of sex, of which the establishment retained 60 percent.

The 10 women were transferred to the State Attorney General’s Office for their protection, as well as to notify the National Institute of Migration, in the case of the two foreigners.
