Cancun, Q.R. — Federal officials have seized more than 25,000 kilos of fish products found captured illegally. The seizure included frozen salmon, giant squid and scallops.

The Secretariat of the Navy, through the Mexican Navy, reports that personnel from the National Aquaculture and Fisheries Commission (Conapesca) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, carried out the seizure of fishery products in Cancun.
The seizure was carried out following an inspection of a commercial establishment. Inside, federal inspectors located 9,200 kilograms of frozen Atlantic salmon fillet, 13,000 kilograms of frozen giant squid and 3,000 kilograms of frozen scallops.

Authorities seized the marine products since “legal origin could not be verified.”

Conapesca personnel proceeded with the seizure of the seafood, which was then placed at the disposal of the corresponding authorities.
