Excessive speed to pass said cause of multi car crash

Tulum, Q.R. — Excessive speed to pass has been the said cause of a two car crash in the municipality of Tulum. On Wednesday morning, emergency personnel responded to several reports of the accident.

Firemen were part of the rescue team required to remove at least two trapped passengers from inside one of the crushed cars. Traffic along that section of the Tulum-Cobá highway came to a standstill as rescue teams worked to treat at least eight injured people.

Of the eight transferred to hospital, four were reported in serious condition. The accident was reported just after 7:00 a.m. Witnesses told police that the driver of one of the involved cars was trying to pass another vehicle when he hit an oncoming truck transporting construction workers.
