Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Playa del Carmen will implement programs in strengthen the municipal economy. The city says the goal is to ensure that tourism growth translates into tangible benefits for local businesses.
Antón Bojorquez, the Secretary of Economic Development and Investment Attraction, says the promotional program wills start this year.

“We presented the progress made in providing advice and support to entrepreneurs, artisans, local producers and the business sector in general. We also announced the most important programs we will implement in 2026,” he said.
Bojórquez presented five key areas to strengthen the economy of Playa del Carmen. They included the “Management for Financing” program, based on a strategy to support entrepreneurs and business owners in compiling applications and connecting them with public and private funds, facilitating access to loans with competitive rates and accessible requirements.
The “Business School”, a comprehensive training space that will accompany entrepreneurs from strategic planning to the execution and formalization of their projects, strengthening their administrative and commercial capabilities.
The “Made in Playa del Carmen” program, which will provide support to producers of food, handicrafts and other goods made in the municipality. It will offer assistance in commercial image, regulatory compliance and linking with markets, with the aim of positioning and adding greater value to local production.
Similarly, “Playa Diversifica” will be launched as a strategy aimed at attracting investment in sectors other than tourism, with the purpose of expanding the economic base and generating new productive activities in the region.
The “Simplification and Digitization of Procedures” program will allow progress in the implementation of the new Law on the Elimination of Bureaucratic Procedures, seeking to reduce response times and facilitate the opening and operation of businesses.
The municipal government projects that in 2026, the economic dynamism of Playa del Carmen will not only be reflected in visitor numbers, but also in greater opportunities.
