Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A dump truck that allegedly suffered mechanical failure ended up toppled over along the Playa del Carmen-Tulum highway on Tuesday.
Preliminary reports say the driver of the dump truck lost control in the area of Punta Venado when the truck, which was carrying a heavy load of gravel, toppled over and landed on its side. The accident created a long line of backed up traffic of about four kilometers while firefighters arrived to empty the truck of its remaining contents so a tow truck could set the vehicle up right.
In addition to the loss of cargo, the truck suffered material damages. The were no reported injuries to the driver of the unit.
