Driver walks away from Tulum highway crash that left car embedded between semi trailers

Tulum, Q.R. — The driver of a car that crashed into a parked semi was lucky to walk away from what ended up being a single vehicle accident. On Sunday, the male driver was heading toward Tulum when his steering wheel malfunctioned.

At highway speed, he lost control of his car when, according to the driver, his steering wheel suddenly pulled left. He was headed in the path of a Kia but did not hit the car.

Instead, he ended up slamming into the trailer of a parked semi. The accident happened Sunday afternoon on the federal 307 highway near Laguna de Kaan Luum.

The car was destroyed in what turned out to be a single vehicle accident. December 21, 2025.

According to the 30 year old driver, he had just left the lagoon when the steering wheel of his Honda “suddenly pulled left”. Unable to control his car, he ended up hitting the parked trailer.

“Fortunately, I didn’t hit the other car. It passed by and at that moment the steering wheel pulled me and I ended up between the two boxes of the trailer,” he told police at the scene.

After impact, the car ended up embedded between two trailers of a parked semi. The driver walked away from the crash. Damage to the semi trailer was reported as minimal.

Emergency personnel including National Guard were at the scene in reponse to motorists reports of the accident. The driver suffered only minor injuries despite the magnitiude of damage to his vehicle.
