Tulum, Q.R. — A motorcycle driver was killed and his passenger seriously injured after he slammed into the back of a non-moving water truck. The motorcycle accident was the result of another two-vehicle accident along the federal highway Tuesday night.
On Tuesday night, a water truck and cement truck collided along the federal highway. In that accident, the water truck moved from the accident lane onto the side of the road. The oncoming motorcycle failed to see the non-moving truck in time.
He hit the back, dying instantly. His female passenger was thrown from the bike. She landed several meters away in brush. Paramedics pronounced the man on scene and transferred the woman to hospital.
After being hit by the motorcycle, the driver of the water truck fled. He was intercepted by police in Playa del Carmen and arrested. One other person, the driver of the cement truck, was also injured and transferred to hospital for medical attention.
