Tulum, Q.R. — A woman involved in a two vehicle crash in the municipality of Tulum has died. On Monday night, two people were injured in the accident that claimed that life of the driver.
Early Monday morning, the driver of a private car collided with a semi. The accident was reported on a section of Tulum-Cobá state highway by passing motorists.
The female driver of the private Jetta was slammed against the tractor-trailer near the Mayan community of Macario Gómez. The small car rolled several times from the impact, trapping all three inside.
Firemen rushed to the scene after being called to help free the trapped accident victims. The driver of the car was freed but died before being transported to hospital. Her two passengers were taken to hospital by responding ambulances.
Police continue to investigate the exact cause of the accident.
