Driver in hospital after truck tries to pass on Tulum highway

Tulum, Q.R. — A small pickup truck carrying a load of straw crashed into a compact car on the Tulum-Cobá highway Wednesday. The 1:00 p.m. highway accident saw the driver of the compact unit transferred to hospital with injuries after the side of his vehicle collapsed due to the impact.

Reports say the small pickup truck, which has state of Guerrero plates, attempted to pass the compact car, but failed. During the pass, the truck hit the car, causing the truck to overturn and come to a stop on its side.

Paramedics transferred the driver of the car, 38-year-old Herberto C. to hospital, while police secured both vehicles, which were taken to a corral.
