Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A woman was killed Saturday night after being struck by a car on Playa del Carmen Boulevard. The accident happened around 11:30 p.m., when she was attempting to cross highway.

Information gathered at the scene indicates that a white Cupra struck the pedestrian, throwing her several meters toward the median. When police arrived, they found the car responsible for the accident, but not the driver.
Accordinng to witnesses, the male driver of the car stopped several meters ahead where he hopped out of his vehicle and ran on foot. He left his vehicle abandoned at the scene.
Witnesses called 9-1-1 for an ambulance, however, paramedics pronounced the women dead in the center of the highway.
The area was cordoned off by police while forensic personnel removed the woman’s body.
Police towed the vehicle and are in search for the man responsible for the fatal hit and run.
