Tulum, Q.R. — Several areas of Tulum were left without electricity Wednesday after a truck downed a highway pole.
Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) personnel were at the site where a power pole was knocked out of position and fell through a concrete wall. The incident was reported several kilometers from the town’s entrance.
According to available information, the driver of a heavy unit truck became entangled in a set of very low lying lines as he passed the area. The driver, who kept going, took down the pole and set of lines that left the area without electricity.
The driver of the truck was reportadly heading to Felipe Carrillo Puerto at the time of the incident.
CFE personnel were on site for more than two hours replacing the pole since it broke in two pieces after breaking through the concrete wall.
