Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two people who were trapped inside their burning home Tuesday have died. The two adults were transported to hospital after suffering extensive injuries from the house fire.
The house fire happened Tuesday on Flor de Primavera Street and Lilis Avenue. Neighbors who saw the burning home rushed to help the two people they knew were inside.
One of the two fire victims was pulled out of the house through a window suffering second and third degree burns. The second person, who was left trapped inside, suffered from extreme smoke inhalation. Due to their location in the house and the bars on the window, that person was rescued by firemen.
Both were rushed to hospital by ambulance Tuesday and died in hospital Thursday. One person died from burn injuries and the other from severe respiratory complications from smoke inhalation.
An official cause for the fatal house fire remains under investigation.
