Cyclist killed in hit and run outside Francisco Uh May

Tulum, Q.R. — A cyclist was killed near the town of Francisco Uh May after being hit by a vehicle. The driver of the car alleged responsible failed to stop. Witnesses saw the male bicyclist hit from behind by the car that kept going.

The man was thrown from his bike onto the pavement. Motorists who saw what happened called emergency services, however, while waiting, witnesses said the injured bicyclist had been run over by at least one other vehicle.

The man, who is reported to have been around 30, was found dead on a section of the Tulum-Cobá highway near the town of Francisco Uh May in the municipality of Tulum. The accident happened around 7:00 a.m. Tuesday.

National Guard Highways arrived to cordon off the area while state officials arrived to collect statements and remove the body.
