Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — One of two company workers who fell into a sewer tank during maintenance died Saturday. Over the weekend, the two men were cleaning a septic tank when they both fell in.
The accident happened at a complex in Playacar Phase 2 where the two company workers had been sent. They were part of a company specializing in septic tank cleaning services.
Emergency personnel were called Saturday when the men fell into the tank and were unable to get out. Playa del Carmen firemen were charged with the extraction of the two men.
One worker was pulled out alive. The other was found inside the tank deceased.
Emergency personnel provided first aid and transported the surviving worker to hospital. Civil Protection subsequently secured the building to assess the structure of the area.
Authorities did not provide information as to how the accident happened.
