Cancun, Q.R. — The City of Cancun says everything is ready for Tour de France 2024. For the second consecutive year, the city of Cancun will host the sporting event L’Etape Cancun 2024 by Tour de France.
The cycling race will be held Sunday June 16 starting at 6:00 a.m. with cyclists from all over the country. Cyclists will make their way through routes created and endorsed by Tour de France experts.
Athletes will participate in two routes of 60 and 110 kilometers, traveling through emblematic places in the city such as the Malecón Tajamar and the Cancun Hotel Zone, among others.
The route makes it not only an amateur cycling event, but also a unique opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landscape that the destination offers while being part of an international sporting experience.
During the Sunday race, the Municipal Transit Directorate will carry out different road closures from 4:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., on Avenida Bonampak, Boulevard Kukulcán, Boulevard Luis Donaldo Colosio and Avenida 16 de Abril.
In a statement, the City Council of Cancun said, “the only access to the Cancun Hotel Zone will be through Colosio Boulevard, while the exit will be through kilometer zero on the lane on the sea side.
“The following returns will be maintained on said boulevard, which are Airport Road Distributor, before reaching the “Xoximilco” park and at the Moon Palace hotel.”
The race route will be along Malecón Tajamar, Boulevard Kukulcán, Boulevard Colosio, Avenida 16 de Abril and Parque Cancún; Participants will complete 120 kilometers in two laps along the same route.
