Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — City officials accompanied CFE personnel Friday in an area of new underground power lines. New power lines are being installed by CFE along Paseo del Mayab Avenue.
The Friday afternoon work tour was led by Uri Carmona Islas, President of the PDC Urban Development Commission. City Council members toured the site where CFE has started the introduction of underground power lines in the Palmas I subdivision.

Enrique Echeverría, supervisor of the CFE, indicated that the project includes an interconnection to the substation of the Ejidal neighborhood on Paseo del Mayab Avenue.
Once complete, the added lines will prevent blackouts in those northwest areas of the city, including Villas del Sol and El Edén.
City Councilman Carmona Islas, acknowledged the benefits the project but also noted that during their Friday tour, a city work day, there was no work crew at the site.
“We see the machinery idle without workers and with some issues in the work, which is what we want to avoid,” he said without elaborating.
