Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Charges against another person in the murder of a Playa del Carmen bar manager have been laid. On Tuesday, police said Edgar Enrique “N” has been charged with aggravated homicide.
“The events for which he is being investigated occurred on January 25, 2022, at a beach establishment located on 28th Street with the Federal Maritime Zone,” police reported.
“According to the investigations, the defendant, in the company of other subjects, arrived at the place to intercept the victim, who worked as the manager of the site.
“The investigation established that the victim was taken to the restroom area where Edgar Enrique “N” and an accomplice allegedly shot and killed him.
“After the attack, the perpetrators fled to the coast where they boarded a jet ski to escape prosecution.”
In January of 2022, three men arrived at the Mamitas Beach Club in central Playa del Carmen where they shot and killed the manager in a restroom. Video footage captured them as they ran from the restaurant to the waiting jet ski.
On Tuesday, police said “at the corresponding hearing, the court deemed the evidence presented by the prosecution admissible and ordered the defendant to stand trial. The court imposed a two-year pretrial detention order.”
