CFE begins replacement of aged power poles in central PDC

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The CFE has started replacing aged power poles and installing new junction boxes. Personnel from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) started the replacement project in central PDC in response to agreements reached with the municipality.

PDC Urban Development Councilman Uri Carmona Islas, reported that the CFE has the resources allocated to carry out these replacements which are part of a strategy to improve the safety and urban image of the city’s central area.

According to Carmona, the CFE is working from a detailed list of issues in the downtown area, which he noted, will be addressed gradually. He also said that a CFE progress report will be presented during the first inter-institutional meeting in 2026.

Damaged boxes will also be addresses.

Carmona Islas noted that during the current administration, several meetings have been held with the CFE, as well as other companies, to deal with the backlog of central PDC issues.

Efforts are underway, he added, to expand coordination with other service companies such as water, phone and Internet companies to organize the excessive wiring and make the necessary repairs to their infrastructure.
