Central PDC intersection collision kills one driver

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A motorcyclist lost his life after being hit by a car on Playa del Carmen boulevard. The accident was reported Sunday morning around 3:00 a.m.

According to initial reports, the driver of an Audi was traveling south and met the motorcycle near First Street South. Motorists reported seeing the driver of the car accelerate at the same time the driver of the motorcycle was making a U-turn.

The motorcycle is alleged to have crossed into the path of the oncoming Audi.

The bike was dragged several meters before finally being dislodged from the front of the vehicle. Other motorists stopped to help the man and call for an ambulance.

Paramedics pronounced the male driver of the motorcycle dead at the scene after, according to witnesses, he was thrown from his bike and landed head-first on a concrete sidewalk.

The driver of the car stopped a block away to return to the site where the dead motorcycle driver was found. Police arrested the driver of the Audi.
