CAPA announces rate adjustments for Quintana Roo

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — The Potable Water and Sewage Commission (CAPA) has announced an increase in rates that will affect more both homes and businesses. CAPA, the Comisión de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado of Quintana Roo, says as of June, an increase will be applied to both domestic and commercial bills.

The company made the announcement in a June 9 letter. They say that the increase is in line with the National Index of Prices and Quotations (INPC) and increases in electricity services.

In their letter, CAPA notified its operating agencies in the municipalities of Othón P. Blanco, Cozumel, Tulum, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, José María Morelos, Lázaro Cárdenas, Bacalar and their delegations in Benito Juárez, Isla Mujeres and Solidaridad, of the increase.

For the month of June, the new rates will be applied. The agency reported that 10 cubic meters of domestic water will now cost 157.92 peso, up from 144.99. Businesses will pay 148.13 for that same amount of water usage, up from 129.39 and hotels will be charged 383.90, up from 330.91.

CAPA says the rate adjustments will be applied as of June 10 in accordance with the Law on Quotas and Rates for Public Services.
