Cancun police locate and arrest man videoed assaulting female bus passenger

Cancun, Q.R. — A man who took off after being subdued by bus passengers for assault has been arrested. Cancun police have identified the assailant as Guillermo Ramón “N”.

On Wednesday, Guillermo Ramón “N” was videoed physically and verbally assaulting a woman on a city bus. A passenger who sat behind the incident videoed the man yelling and screaming at her while assaulting her.

Other passengers on the bus came to her rescue, subduing her assailant while the bus driver pulled over. The bus was stopped and the subdued man thrown off along Tulum Avenue at which time police were notified.

Cancun officers were able to find the man and take him into custody.

According witnesses, the man was waiting for her on a parked motorcycle at a bus stop in SM 22 where he left his bike to get on the bus. He immediately went to the where the woman was sitting and began his assault.

Other men on the bus subdued him and forcefully removed him from the bus in a chokehold where he was thrown onto the pavement and left for police.

The woman who was assaulted eventually got off the bus. Police say they are continuing their search for her.

In a statement, Policía de Cancún reported on the detainment of Guillermo Ramón “N”.

“In a coordinated effort, Cancun Police have arrested the alleged assailant of a public transportation passenger.

“Regarding an incident circulating on social media showing a physical assault against a female public transportation user on Tulum Avenue, the Cancun Police report that the alleged perpetrator has been arrested.

“As a result of surveillance efforts within the framework of Operation Cancun Shield, the corresponding intervention was carried out, leading to the arrest of Guillermo Ramón “N”, from whom suspected illicit substances were seized.

“The detainee was turned over to the State Attorney General’s Office for appropriate legal proceedings.

“Meanwhile, the Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender Violence (GEAVIG) continues its efforts to locate and assist the victim. The Cancun Police reiterate their commitment to safeguarding the integrity of citizens and providing timely attention to victims.”
