Cancun kidnapper gets 50 years after demanding 25,000 pesos in ransom

Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun judge has sentenced a man to 50 years in prison for the kidnapping of three people and 25,000 in ransom. Orlando “N” was given the 50 year sentence “for the crime of aggravated kidnapping to the detriment of three victims,” the State Attorney General (FGE) said in a statement.

The FGE reported that Orlando “N”, who together with other people, deprived three victims of their freedom to demand a ransom of 25,000 pesos from their relatives.

On December 13, 2021, the three victims were kidnapped from the Santa Cecilia irregular neighborhood of Cancun by several subjects who threatened them with firearms. They were forced into a vehicle where they were blindfolded and beaten.

The victims were taken to a house where they remained captive for three days, during which time they were tortured, while Orlando “N” and other subjects contacted their relatives to demand 25,000 pesos as payment for the release of the three people.

Orlando “N”, the accused, was detained by police near a shopping plaza on Nichupté Avenue when he went to collect the money agreed for the release of the kidnapped people, the FGE (Fiscalía General Del Estado) reported.
