Bus load of Honduran nationals arrested by INM outside Tulum

Tulum, Q.R. — A bus load of Honduran nationals were taken into custody Tuesday by INM immigration officials after they were found traveling outside Tulum.

The bus carrying the Hondurans was inspected by Grupo Atención Especializado al Trasporte (Specialized Assistance Group for Transportation) of the federal police with assistance from Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM).

Officials found the bus carrying a total of 41 Honduran nationals that consisted of 15 children, three girls, 11 men, 11 women and a three-month-old infant, all of whom were allegedly undocumented.

The bus was inspected around 7:00 p.m along the Tulum-Puerto Juarez stretch of federal highway. According to federal police, the bus was from Palenque, Chiapas and heading toward the direction of Cancún.

The Hondurans were taken into custody by the National Migration Institute, while the driver and his bus were made available to the Attorney General’s Office (Fiscalía General de la República) in Cancún.
