Broad daylight murder of three Tulum men rattles residents

Tulum, Q.R. — Tulum residents were left rattled Thursday after the broad daylight murder of three men. The three men were shot to death on a residential sidewalk of Calle Asteroides in Colonia Lakin early Thursday afternoon.

Area residents reported the deadly 1:45 p.m. attack to authroties who arrived in the company of armed military personnel. Responding paramedics pronounced all three dead at the scene.

The three men killed are reported to have been shot point blank by gang rival members. Resident witnesses reported seeing men in a car stop when at least one got out and open fire before fleeing.

One of the deceased has been identified as Miguel “G” who worked in a local bakery with another one of the men killed Thursday. It is the third shot person, not identified, who is believed to have been connected to island gangs.

The area was cordoned off by officers and guarded by armed military while authorities collected ballistic evidence and removed the bodies.

In a brief public acknowledgement, the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) said “The FGE of Quintana Roo reports that it opened an investigation after the events that occurred in the municipality of Tulum where three men lost their lives.

“It should be noted that the Specialized Homicide Prosecutor’s Office is carrying out investigations to find him or those responsible for this unfortunate event.”
