Tulum, Q.R. — A tourist of Brazilian nationality died Friday after drowning in the pool of a Tulum condominium.
The drowning happened on the roof of a three-level condominium on Solo Oriente Street just before 9:00 a.m. Other condominium visitors pulled the man from the pool, but called emergency 911 when he failed to respond.
The victim, later identified as José Josías de Sousa, 32, is said to have fallen into the pool which was located on the roof of the three-level condominium complex. Paramedics arrived only to confirm his death.
State and Ministerial Police also arrived, requesting the help of firefighters to lower the body from the rooftop. Firemen were on scene for approximately one hour while they placed the body on a stretcher and lowered it to the ground for the waiting medical examiner. His family have been notified.
