Bouncer killed in targeted shooting in central Playa del Carmen bar district

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Paramedics rushed a bar employee to hospital Sunday night from an armed attack. The man, reported to be a bouncer, was shot at close range while he was standing outside the club.

Municipal Police were called to an establishment on 12th Street after a staff member of La Vaquita was shot. Eye witnesses from the city’s bar district said armed men approached the man and shot him in the head.

Those responsible then fled into the confused crowd who heard gunfire amid the music. The shooting happened around 9:00 p.m.

The man was found laying on his back on the cobblestone outside the club. He was rushed to a Playa del Carmen hospital where he later died.

Following the targeted attack, a search operation was launched by police to locate the gunman, however, arrests have not been announced.

Since his death, the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office was notified to proceed with the corresponding investigation.
