Tulum, Q.R. — The body of a woman reported missing Sunday in a municipal lagoon has been found. The woman, Luz Maria “N” was kayaking with a friend Roberto “N” Sunday in Laguna Nopalitos when their kayak flipped.
Roberto “N” was able to swim to shore and walk for help. A search team from the municipalities of Tulum and Felipe Carrillo Puerto participated in looking for the woman.
Tulum Civil Protection personnel began the search for the woman Sunday but had to suspend their efforts Sunday night when dark set in. Search teams began looking for her again early Monday morning with their counterparts from Felipe Carrillo Puerto.
Agents from the Tulum State Attorney General’s Office became involved when her body was found. She was located Monday afternoon engtangled in the lagoon’s thick mangrove.
The woman is reported to have been 30 years old and, along with her boyfriend Roberto “N”, a local resident of Tulum.
