Body of missing Cobá farmer found during second search

Tulum, Q.R. — A 60-year-old farmer reported missing September 23 has been found dead. The man’s body was located early Thursday afternoon during a search operation. He was found in jungle in the community of Francisco Uh May in the municipality of Tulum.

The discovery of the body occurred shortly after noon Thursday during a search that included both ground and aerial patrols. Family reported 60-year-old David “C” missing from his hometown of Cobá Saturday after he failed to return from checking cornfields.

Authorities found his body Thursday after a second search. A cause of death is not known.

On social media, the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) of Quintana Roo reported “the SSC, in coordination with the Person Search Commission and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), implemented an air search for a victim with a reserved identity in the municipality of Tulum.

“With the help of Águila 2, the highway that goes from Tulum to Cobá was flown over Macario Gómez, Francisco Uh May and Manuel Antonio Ay. With actions like this, the Secretariat of Citizen Security reaffirms its commitment to the safety of the people of Quintana Roo.”
