Tulum, Q.R. — A bicyclist was taken to Tulum hospital Friday after being hit by a bus while attempting to cross the highway. The front windshield of the bus was left partially shattered due to the impact. The cyclist, an adult male, was stabilized at the scene and taken to hospital by ambulance from the roadside.

The accident happened on Federal 307 heading toward Felipe Carrillo Puerto. According to witnesses, the man, who was apparently heading to work, attempted to cross the road without looking both ways and crossed into the path of the oncoming bus.
Despite the driver’s attempt to brake, he was unable to stop in time, hitting the cyclist and throwing him to the pavement. The bus hit the bicycle but was able to stop before running over the man laying on the road. Paramedics provided first aid before the hospital transfer. The cyclist was not seriously injured.
