Beach vendor who sold candy and peanuts dies on PDC sidewalk

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The body of a man reported to be a local street vendor was removed from a sidewalk Saturday. Police were called to the Nicté Ha neighborhood where neighbors reported, what turned out to be, the death of a well-known area vendor.

The man has been identified as 52 year old Lázaro “N” from Campeche who sold peanuts and candy on city beaches.

His body was found around 8:00 a.m. Saturday on a sidewalk on Agustín Melgar Street and 10th Avenue.

According to neighbors, he was laying down when they saw him begin to convulse. The incident was reported to emergency 9-1-1 who sent paramedics, however, by the time they arrived, he had died.

An autopsy will be performed to determine his official cause of death.
