Authorities shut crematorium after missing person search operation

Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — Authorities have shut a building used as a crematorium in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco. The building was closed down after a search operation in relation to missing persons.

The building was searched Thursday by personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office and the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) who said the building’s permits had expired.

“The court order stems from investigations related to the probable commission of crimes of disappearance committed by private individuals against respect for the dead, against burial regulations and/or whatever, to the detriment of a male victim.

“The operation took place on a property located on Javier Barros Sierra Street. Through inspection and processing work, the agents secured biological evidence, as well as evidentiary material, which was integrated into the corresponding investigation file.

“Once the procedure was completed, the participating agents placed the security seals on the property, which was placed under the custody of the state.”
